Julie Turpin
Executive Vice President & Chief People Officer

Grounded in the principle that “talent breaks all ties,” Julie Turpin is committed to providing teammates a competitive, fun and rewarding environment rich with opportunity and potential. As chief people officer for Brown & Brown, Julie is responsible for teammate engagement, learning and development, compensation, rewards and benefits, as well as all other human resources operations.

Julie is passionate about mentoring, coaching leaders and building successful, high-performing teams through a focus on the holistic teammate experience to ensure exceptional customer service. Her spirited people-centric leadership style, experience as a business operator and long-standing work in the property and casualty insurance industry help her understand and anticipate the growing needs of the Brown & Brown team.

Julie has over 20 years of executive leadership experience in the insurance industry and with professional services firms with U.S.-based and global operations. She joined the organization in August 2012 as the chief operating officer of Brown & Brown Absence Services Group, LLC, where she led a team of more than 550 teammates and grew business operations both organically and through targeted acquisitions.

Julie received her Bachelor of Science from Cardinal Stritch University. She resides in Ormond Beach, Florida, and enjoys yoga, meditation, travel and the outdoors.

Jennifer Martin
Employee Benefit Consultant

Jennifer Martin is a highly accomplished Benefit Consultant with over 26-years of proven experience with employers, with a unique specialized talent working with municipalities in the state of Michigan and a passion for public service. Throughout her distinguished career, Jennifer has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering strategic benefit solutions that drive positive outcomes for organizations and their employees.

With a wealth of experience, Jennifer has navigated the intricate landscape of benefit consulting, adeptly addressing the unique needs of customers and union groups across various industries. Her comprehensive understanding of state-specific regulations and market dynamics in Michigan has allowed her to provide tailored and compliant benefit strategies, ensuring customers maximize their investments while promoting employee well-being, consumerism, and talent.

Known for her innovative approach, Jennifer has played a pivotal role in introducing cutting-edge benefit programs that enhance employee satisfaction and retention. Her strategic guidance has consistently yielded measurable results, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organizations she has served.

The wife of an officer of Mecosta County and raising three children; two in high-school and one attending Ferris State University. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Administration and Human Resource Management.

As a seasoned Benefit Consultant, Jennifer Martin continues to shape the landscape of employee benefits in Michigan, exemplifying excellence, integrity, and a passion for fostering thriving workplaces.

Angela Garner
Executive Vice President

Angela Garner is the Executive Vice President for Brown & Brown, located in Saginaw, Michigan. She has been in the employee benefit industry for over 20-years and serves on multiple carrier boards and national employee benefit councils. The Saginaw office specializes in the public sector serving several municipalities.

Angela is responsible for customer strategic planning, day-to-day compliance, labor negotiations, carrier negotiations, renewal discussions, technology recommendations, overall plan oversight, wellness recommendations, member education and marketplace knowledge.

Prior to entering the benefits arena, Angela was directly in the trenches of a public employer, working for Saginaw County in the management/finance department. In 2004, she transitioned into insurance with Public Employee Benefit Solutions (PEBS) as an Account Manager. Angela excelled very quickly in this role and within two years was appointed as Vice President. She assists the Account Managers and customers, as well as maintaining a large book of business of key accounts. Having multiple years of management and labor negotiation experience allows Angela to quickly find gaps that otherwise aren’t found. Having obtained her Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation shortly after her Group Benefits Associate and Retirement Plans Associate allows her to be instrumental in the success of her client's overall benefits package and compliance.

With more than 12 years of experience, Maggie serves as an Employee Benefit Specialist. Maggie is responsible for serving customers and supporting the growth of Brown & Brown. Prior to joining Brown & Brown, Maggie worked in various branches within the insurance environment. While starting out as a Voluntary Sales Service Representative and expanding into the Marketing Department, she gained significant tools and keys to becoming a successful representative. Her goal is to live everyday with purpose and passion.

Maggie earned a B.A. in Business from Central Michigan University.

Licensed Insurance Consultant: Property & Casualty, Life & Health

Maggie is an active member at Highland Christian Reformed Church, where she leads the GEMs program and Co-Leads the Middle School Youth Group with her husband. She is also a mother of three wonderful children.
