When Everything\u2019s Changing, Here\u2019s What Doesn\u2019t<\/h3>\n

Earlier this summer, we announced something big:\u00a0Brown & Brown has entered into an agreement to acquire Accession Risk Management Group<\/a>, bringing more than 5,000 talented teammates into our organization.<\/p>\n

For some, that news sparked excitement. For others, it may have raised questions or even anxiety. That\u2019s normal. Because the only thing people dislike more than change is the uncertainty that comes with it.<\/p>\n

While this moment is specific to our company, the experience of change and emotions behind it aren\u2019t.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve worked through a lot of change in my life, and one thing I\u2019ve learned is that change isn\u2019t just a logistical shift. It\u2019s layered and touches people differently depending on where they sit, what they\u2019ve experienced and what they value.<\/p>\n

No matter the context \u2014 whether you\u2019re joining a new organization, stepping into a different role or navigating something entirely outside of work \u2014 the same tensions show up: control, clarity, fear and growth. When they do, we have a choice: resist the discomfort or learn from it.<\/p>\n

Change feels hard. That doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s bad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we go through change, we often crave control. We want to know what\u2019s next, how it will affect us and where we\u2019ll land. But control is a myth. The only thing any of us can truly control is ourselves: our mindset, our response and our ability to stay open.<\/p>\n

When I talk to teammates, interns and even close friends about navigating uncertain moments, I always come back to a question:\u00a0What\u2019s this change here to teach me?<\/em><\/p>\n

Some of the most defining experiences of my life \u2014 watching my family lose everything, learning to build financial independence early, navigating the loss of a 19-year marriage \u2014 didn\u2019t come with immediate clarity. But they did come with growth. And in every case, I became someone stronger on the other side.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what I hope for all of us in moments like this \u2014 to not just get through the change but use it. To let it stretch us, sharpen us and ultimately move us forward in ways we may not have expected.<\/p>\n

How to stay grounded in the middle of change<\/strong><\/p>\n

The truth is, change doesn\u2019t always wait for us to feel ready. But we can choose how we show up for it. We can choose to be reflective instead of reactive. Curious instead of closed off. Rooted instead of rigid.<\/p>\n

Here are a few practices that have helped me, and many others,\u00a0move through change<\/a>\u00a0with greater clarity and confidence:<\/p>\n
